Zitat A German artist, who goes by the name of “Evol”, has taken his work to the streets by creating miniature buildings out of the unlikeliest mediums.
Using a layered stencil technique, Evol transforms unnoticed objects like letterboxes, concrete blocks and electrical boxes into miniature buildings.
Evol’s works produce such a realistic effect that it’s sometimes hard to tell if it’s a painting to begin with.
Zitat Even in the chilly Alaskan heartland, this isn’t quite what you expect. A giant igloo. Situated on the George Parks Highway, 180 miles out of Anchorage on the route towards Fairbanks, Igloo City as it is known stands out like the proverbial sore thumb. It has become something of a tourist attraction in its own right.
You may not have to guess when the Igloo Hotel was but as the 1970s are generally regarded as the decade that style forgot there aren’t any prizes if that was your first conjecture. Someone, apparently, thought that aping the Inuit tradition of igloo building would be a great idea for a hotel. Whether they simultaneously had the idea to build a giant tepee hotel in a Lakota community is lost to history.
Change your perspective on life. Change your perspective on life.
ZitatAre you getting what you want out of life? Are you accomplishing the things you really want to do? Of course there is no reason or way to strive for more until you’ve seen what more (or less) looks like. That’s something worth pondering… what views do you want to see in life and what do you need to do or overcome to get them? Do you want to do more meaningful work? Become a public figure? Save lives? Design something that impacts society in a big, felt way? Maybe you literally just want to travel the world or escape to a beautiful beach or perhaps you want to be the one in the bosses chair. You should take a minute to picture whatever more means to you so you can determine whether or not it is worth chasing (hint: the harder something is to do, the more you should do it). On the other side of the coin, it wouldn’t hurt to look the other way and envision where you DON’T want to be because contentment is found when realize that you have what you need. Only you know what view suits you best.
ZitatMeet the newly named Manatee nebula. Officially known as W50, this cloud of gas and dust is the remnant of a supernova explosion that happened 10,000 years ago in the constellation Aquila.
This image, released and renamed by the National Radio Astronomy Observatory on Jan. 19 to coincide with the Florida Manatee Festival, bears witness to the correspondence that heavenly phenomena sometimes have for more familiar things on Earth. Both the NRAO staff and members of the Crystal River National Wildlife Refuge, home to many endangered West Indian manatees, hope to draw attention to the 40th anniversary of the Endangered Species Act with the release. The nebula joins the ranks of other nebulas named for animals, such as the Eagle nebula, Crab nebula, and Horsehead nebula.
But that’s not all. According to a press release from both organizations, manatees have a lot in common with the Manatee nebula
